Mary Poppins The Musical Mary Poppins needs no introduction and the latest version 'Mary Poppins The Musical' continues to entertain. On until the 17th October. ABBAWORLD For all of those who remember ABBA or those now fans, get down to the ABBAWORLD exhibition. All of your favourite ABBA songs are featured as well as memorabilia and interactive game and more - from the 19th June. National Swap Day The Clothing Exchange is holding a clothing National Swap Day to re-use unwanted clothing that we all have. Gideon Haigh will speak about recent events within cricket in India on 20th October at 6pm. 5th October 2010 Sweet Streets 2010 Sweet Streets 2010 is a show case of Street Art in Melbourne where some of the best urban art is displayed. On until the 10th October. The Amazing Bodies Exhibition The sometimes controversial Amazing Bodies Exhibition is on from the 4th June at the Waterfront City Piazza at Docklands. Called The Humble Vintage Bike Hire Co, a range of vintage bicycles are available at a number of convenient locations around Melbourne. European Masters: Städel Museum The seventh in the spectacular Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series, the European Masters: Städel Museum exhibition comes to the National Gallery of Victoria and will feature paintings from such artists as Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Renoir and Van Gogh. From the 19th June 2010. 12th July 2010 West Side Story West Side Story comes to Australia after being Sold out in London, Paris, Tokyo and Beijing. Joey McKneely's new stage production of the classic dance musical is a must see. On at the Regent Theatre until the 3rd October. Burke and Wills: Terra Incognita Read the story of Burke and Wills'remarkable Victorian Exploring Expedition of 1860–61 in this special display which marks the expedition's 150th anniversary. Held at the State Library of Victoria's Cowen Gallery from Friday 7 May until Sunday 3 October. Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2010 Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is being held from August 30 to September 5 in Melbourne completed with the fashion parades and more to highlight the best in fashion. Affective Urbanism 3: In Periscope Take a free tour where you only can look up, (because of the periscope mounted on a helmet you wear) and be lead around by holding a pole attached to your guides. On the 3rd October. Melbourne Writers Festival 2010 Melbourne Writers Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The city’s premier literary event showcases everything from novels to songwriting and during this 25th anniversary year will be held from 27 August to 5 September. 30th May 2010 Melbourne Day 2010 On 30 August 1835 the first settlers landed on the north bank of the Yarra River from the schooner Enterprize. On this day 175 years later we will celebrate Melbourne Day with an official Flag Raising Ceremony at 10am at Enterprise Park, Flinders St. Burke and Wills 150th Anniversary The Royal Society of Victoria organised the Victorian Exploring Expedition which was tragically led by Burke and Wills in 1860. To highlight the full story of the benefits the expedition gave to Victoria, re-enactment of the events will be held from August 2010. 23rd May 2010 Melbourne Art Fair 2010 The Melbourne Art Foundation presents the Art Fair at the Royal Exhibition Buildings from the 4th - 8th August. State of Design Festival The 2010 State of Design Festival which is the largest of its type in Australia, will take place 14-25 July throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. FAME - The Musical If you thought the musical FAME was simply a rehash of the movie many of us remember but with an injection of hip-hop beats and strong vocals, this dance production really entertains. MELTours was in attendance last night at the lovely Regent Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed it! 5th May 2010 This Little Teapot Artist Rebecca Murphy is looking for 50 artists to take part in a group exhibition in Sydney for late 2010 where each person will get a small ceramic teapot to do whatever they like with it. Submissions can be made here for a May 31 2010 close. 3rd May 2010 13th Spanish Film Festival The Spanish Film Festival comes to Melbourne again this year as part of a nationwide celebration. This exhibition is a series of manipulated photographs of landscapes that simultaneously display symmetry and uniqueness of typical Australia bush scenes. On from 2nd - 28th February 2010. The Letterheads Exhibition The exhibition features 26 letters the English alphabet interpreted by 26 influential contemporary artists. Each artist has exclusively for this exhibition created their interpretation of a single letter which collectively has created a unique alphabet as see from different artistic contexts. Letterheads 2010 is open from Friday 26th February to Friday 19th March 2010 at 1000 £ Bend Artspace. 10th February 2010 Experimenta Utopia Now Experimenta Utopia Now is an International Biennial of Media Art displaying more that 30 interactive works from local and overseas artists. It will be held at BlackBox in the Arts Centre from the 12th February to the 14th March 2010, everyday from 10am to 6pm except Monday. Friday and Saturday it is open until 8pm. QV Summer Concert Series From the 5th February a series of free concerts will be help in the QV Square at QV. Green Cities 2010 Taking place in Melbourne from February 21-24, Green Cities will see the world’s leading sustainability and property experts gather to ensure the development of productive, healthy and profitable buildings is the cornerstone of the renewed push for sustainable cities. Sustainable Living Festival 2010 The Sustainable Living Festival will be held at Federation Square on the 19th - 21st February 2010. Showcasing the many aspects and benefits of sustainable living such as bicycling, recycling clothing, volunteering, home retrofitting or more, the festival promotes creative and sustainable communities. Blak Nite Cinema Blak Nite Cinema is a free two-night film event highlighting Indigenous film writers, actors and directors. S.L.A.M Protest Rally Musicians and fans will take to the streets on 23rd February in a rally to protest against the State Government's lack of support for the industry. The rally to coincide with the 34th anniversary of the filming of AC/DC's It's a Long Way to the Top video clip along Swanston Street. Start time is 4pm outside the State Library. Melbourne Conversations Listen to an expert panel led by Professor Rob Moodie from the Nossal Institute for Global Health discuss "Sustaining a healthy body and mind: keeping in shape for the future at BMW Edge, Federation Square on 18th February at 6pm. 14th January 2010 Valentine's Day Guys, don't forget to treat your girl special on the 14th February. St Kilda Festival 2010 The biggest festival in the southern hemisphere enters its 30th year and its going from strength to strength. AC/DC Family Jewels If you are one of the lucky ones (like me!) who is going to see AC/DC in February or you will be staying at home, you should check out the AC/DC Family Jewels exhibition at the Arts Centre Until the end of February. The mother of all zine fairs A Zine fair will be held in the City Square to celebrate zines. (Or magazines created with a photocopier) From 3pm Saturday, February 13th over 60 zinemakers will be on hand showcasing thousands of zines.
