Pre-2007
The people within MELTours began their love of exploration in the streets of London and the small alleyways of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Our guides have collectively visited more than 20 countries around the world and joined tours such as the London Ghost Tour and the Tour of the Kremlin in Moscow.

2007
We started running tours in 2007 with free Laneway and Bicycle tours created for a not-for-profit friendship group in Melbourne purely from walking the laneways of Melbourne and exploring the secret, hidden and forgotten. In 2008, Bar tours were added and the idea to turn professional was born given the encouragement we received.

2009 - pre June
The decision to conduct commercial tours was made and a target of June 2009 was selected. Market tours were added to the Laneways and Bar tours to create coverage by tours of almost the whole day. Test tours were conducted to ensure that all tours were of a good standard. Naturally, feedback was obtained to fine-tune the offerings and gave us hope that we were on the right track.

2009 - post June
MELTours tours started off well backed by a special Winter offer. Aided by the tourism infrastructures in place at all levels of government and a website that became popular quite quickly, bookings were brisk and by the end of December, all expectations had been exceeded.

2010
In 2010 we added Art, Bicycle, Bike Share, Flinders St Station, History and Shopping to build on the share of the market we obtained in 2009. Market tours were taken off the main offerings but still part of our portfolio of tours. Organisations started to notice our operation - both public and corporate.

2011
We are continuing our fantastic levels of growth in 2011 and the second half of the year will see some big changes to our business as we are now starting to build momentum in the tourism and event industries.
